First Days

Today marked the official end of my first week of college, and I survived. College life is a lot different than high school (of course people have probably told you that), but you'll never know until you experience it first hand. I find myself realizing that there's no turning back to "the easier times." But, I don't mind because the future can only get better.

As I walked to and from my classes, it seemed as though the people I passed were just a blur, not just because I was in a hurry, but because I just didn't know them. I felt very alone in a new world. However, as the week went on and I became more comfortable with my surroundings, and the blurs became more focused.

This past week was filled with thoughts of: "Where are all of my friends?" "Will I know at least one person in each of my classes?" "Will my teachers be cool?" The first few days weren't looking too good in the friends department. But, on Wednesday I was walking down one of the many walkways of the campus and saw some familiar faces and the rest is history. As for knowing anyone in my classes, the answer is "no." However, I have made a few new friends, or shall I say aquaintences, as I have not known them long enough to call them friends just yet.

I'm excited to see what the next week will bring.

"Carpe Diem!"
